My Chicka

Cousins playing together. They pretty much are best friends.

We went to visit my grandparents. Our chicka loved playing on their bed and doing patty-cake with them.
She is addicted to falling asleep on me. I guess she likes the warmth since we keep our house pretty cool.
This is her toy that helps her walk. She is a champ at it.

What can I say about my cute chicka. She is amazing and sometimes tiring. She is progressing so well. She is healthy and happy ... which is all we ask for. Here are some updates on her...
  • She definitely is learning how to climb on things. The other day I was deep cleaning the front room. I had the couch pulled forward with the cushions off. I stepped into the laundry room for a quick second and when I came out she was on the couch...now I definitely can't leave her alone.
  • She basically eats whatever we eat. Occasionally we'll give her some baby food just to finish off the meal. She eats and drinks so much. I guess she already takes after her mom in that aspect. Anytime she wants food she will spit out her binky, if it is in, and start clicking her tongue or panting. One crazy thing about this chicka is that she already loves salsa. If she sees us eating it, she wants some.
  • Her top two teeth broke through. Now this makes a grand total of 6 teeth. Oh but wait...we think she is getting more. She just started drooling again with a runny nose. Fun...more restless nights for mom.
  • She can stand up by herself. She doesn't like to do it much because I think she thinks it is boring. She doesn't know what to do after...so she just sits down.
  • She knows how to give high 5's pretty well. She is also learning how to clap. She doesn't do it with us when we say "yeah" but she does it on her own. I guess she doesn't want to be pressured.
  • Lately, with the teething and the earache her new found friend is the Tylenol bottle. Now this is not because we give it to her all the time. But it is just the right size to hold in her hand. She will just hold it forever, through bath time, nap time, etc.
  • She is a great walker. She has a toy that helps her and loves to do it. It is a little hard in our place because there is carpet everywhere. She does better when she is on something solid.
  • She is about 17-18 pounds. She is 90th percentile for height, 25th percentile for weight and of course 90th percentile for head size.

Daddy's Helper

So sometimes I get cabin fever and need to get out of the apartment. I try to stay away from things that will make me spend money. So we tend to go see Dad at work. Part of his job is that he gets to walk around outside. So I thought it would be fun if we came and walked around with him. However by the time we were suppose to walk around it started raining, so instead we drove him around. Hopefully as the weather continues to get better we can have more daddy outings! P.S Bren is not mad...don't know why he made that face.

Kisses from the Horrocks family!

Today we realized that our chicka was running low on food. So we did a quick run to the grocery store. The baby food was on sale, so we stocked up. We bought $50 worth of baby food. I am just glad we didn't pay for one cent of it. Thank goodness for government assistance. The sad part is that this food will last about a week and a half. We have a hungry baby on our hands. We say she is the "second baby jake." (Shout out to my cousin)
The one picture of the chicka with the computer is because this is her new favorite toy. The other day I saw her playing with the computer and went over to shut it and put it away. I then saw a black thing in her hand. Upon further investigation, I saw that it was the CAPS lock key. So this blog has been really hard to write because our CAPS lock key is just chilling on the spot where it needs to go, because we don't know how to put it back on.
The two pictures of the boys are of them doing yoga. They like to work out together but occasionally will stay at home and just do yoga. What fun boys!
And the other pictures are just for your enjoyment!

More Teeth!

Our cute little chicka has her two middle-bottom teeth. Today we have just discovered that she is getting two more teeth. They are also on the bottom. They are on both sides of the middle teeth. Now it is somewhat explained why she isn't sleeping all that great and a little more grumpy. Wow, I hope the rest of the teeth at least take a month, I need some rest.

Celebrating a Day Late

Since we got married Bren and I have decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a day later. In this case two days later. We decided we didn't want to wait in line at a restaurant or buy things at full price at a store. I know you are all probably thinking that is the cheap way to do things, but hey it works. So we went out to Carino's tonight. After dinner we went to the mall to check out a few stores.
My brother was with us and found great deals on sweaters at Gap. So we went in and looked around. 30 minutes later Bren came out with two sweaters, that were under $5, and a great looking pair of pants. He decided he wanted to do some modeling in them to let everyone see how dang handsome he is. Excuse the funny faces in some it is just his modeling personality coming out.

Brrr...It's Cold Out There!

Sorry the pictures are out of order. My hubby and my brother decided to go work out at the gym on a Saturday morning. So I thought it would be fun to take the Chicka on a run. I know I am crazy but the sun was out and I thought if I bundled her up real and tight she would be ok.
So i had her jacket on, her hat covering her precious head and socks and mittens on her hands. In the stroller I had three blankets over her. I definitely thought she would be taken care of. Needless to say she came back pretty chilly. Her hands were frozen and her nose was all pinky. The top picture is after the run when she found our space heater and feel asleep in front of it.
How did I do running you ask? Pathetic. My lungs were freezing trying to warm up the air and about every block I had to stop and walk for a few steps. So if you see me and I am still squishy you know why!

6 Months and Still Growing

Sorry that we do not have an update of pictures. We thought our long run without internet was over...oh but wait it's not. However I decided that we still needed to update on our cute chicka who is officially six months old today.
She is the sweetest thing ever. She now has her first two baby teeth and looks adorable when smiling. It was a pain trying to get them to break the surface but she was a trooper throughout the whole ordeal.
She is a champ when it comes to sitting up. She even knows how to lean to her side to get something while resting on her elbow and then miraculously returns to the sitting position.
She loves paper and anything that makes noise. We put tons of toys in front of her and instead she rolls and stretches to get our books. Too funny!!
Her Uncle Adam is living with us at the moment and she is loving every minute of it. She would sit and stare at him all day long if we let her.
As for Bren, he officially started the first day of classes on his last year of school. We are so excited for him to get done. He is taking three accounting classes, with one of them being the hardest in his major. I don't think he likes it so far but we will continue the journey. He is still working on campus and we take the trek to the school (to the use the internet) to say hi to him and give him a bit of cheer from his baby girl.
As for me .... let's think. Nothing really new. I am still working and trying to take care of my chicka. I am starting to feel more like a mother and a housewife. I am trying to stay up on the laundry and making the house clean but I don't think I am having too much success. My one goal this year is to cook more for Bren. Last year I was too pregnant to worry about cooking so I want to make up for it.
Sorry again for no pictures but I promise they will be soon.
